Well folks, fresh off the workbench!! Here we have a custom crafted Cohibacaster cigar box guitar built by Master luthier Doron Markowitz of D Guitars Miami!! This is a special 1 year anniversary model commemorating when I started building the Cohibacaster line in October 2007, and as such, is a special Cohiba edition Cohibacaster!! To celebrate the event, I have built this with all gold hardware; tuners, bridge, tailpiece, control plate, etc. Check us out at www.myspace.com/dguitarsmiami. You'll notice the antique doubloon inlaid at the headstock, a trademark of D Guitars Miami, so you know that owning a custom crafted guitar from D Guitars Miami is like owning a piece of treasure!! This is number 008, completed on 10-04-08. What makes this cbg unique is the fact that it is a true "shred box" in every sense of the word. It has an extremely comfortable 6 string maple neck, w/walnut skunk stripe in the back and rosewood fretboard with a gorgeous grain, and low, fast action, gold-plated die-cast tuners, a pair of new humbucking pickups, as well as a piezo transducer under the top for a more haunted delta tone as well. The acoustic and electric sounds can be blended or used individually for any tones ranging from hot electric guitar leads, to serious bluesman-approved dobro-ish honk.The body is made out of a Cohiba Toro cigar box with brass clasp and hinges, measuring around 2 inches deep by 12" long, and 7.5" wide. This is semi-hollow, so yes, you can strum this acoustically as well. The control panel, which is a gold-plated tele plate, consists of (from left to right) a 3 way tele pickup selector, volume control, 3 way mini-toggle switch to choose from pure electric, electric/acoustic, or pure acoustic settings, and the tone control!! Additional hardware includes, gold-plated sink drain sound hole screen, gold-plated anchored tailpiece, antique-style brass skeleton key bridge saddle with perfect intonation mounted on a gorgeous purpleheart bridge base, currently setup with 10 gauge strings tuned to standard tuning, gold-plated contemporary strap buttons, gold-plated jackplate, and a picture hanger loop on the back of the headstock so when you aren't playing your Cohibacaster, you can hang it on the included picture hanger hook in your living room as a piece of functional wall art. That feature alone is worth the price of admission!! This is a real monster player, and one of my favorites. It is lightweight, compact, toneful, and can fit in any overhead compartment, and so is the perfect travel guitar. You will not find a better bang for your buck value in cigarbox guitars than you will with the Cohibacaster line from D Guitars Miami. Plus, I put a lot into every guitar I build so you really are getting something special. Rock On!!
